Blackjack Blues (featuring Ms. Gerri Diamond) www.myspace.com Gerri Diamond, vocalists, hails from Dayton, Ohio and started singing for Dayton Parks & Recreation at age 12. At 14 she began paying her dues on the local nightclub scene in Dayton. She remembers performing at the "Rendezvous" with the infamous H. Bomb Ferguson at the tender age of 15. At 17 Gerri was discovered be Bud Renau and landed her first record deal: the moving rendition of "Breakaway" on Saxoney records launched her recording career. Gerri went on to become an internationally known recording artist with Hanna Barbera, Saxoney and Counterpart Records. "Give Up On Love", which she co-wrote with Kenny Smith and recorded on Hanna Barbera, shot to #13 on the American pop charts and #5 in England. She recorded early Jackie De Shannon hits and worked with Lonnie Mack, the Casino's, Danny Toler of The Allman Brothers, and Billy Joe Royal. her storied career spans five decades, including time as a TV host and personality, and opening up for acts like Frankie Valli, The Beach Boys, The Dovells and Roy Orbison. Gerri told me a couple of her greatest thrills were performing with Little Richard and Bo Diddley. She's rated in the Top 100 Soul Artists in Europe. Gerri Diamond resides in New Port Richey, Florida and has been known as the "The Blues Mamma" for over twenty years.
